JEWELLERY CARE

Wearing and caring for your Muse Studio jewellery

Here are a few tips to help you keep your Muse jewellery in good condition and maintain its beautiful appearance. All jewellery benefits from regular cleaning and careful handling, so every item of jewellery we make will be supplied in its own jewellery box, in which the product should be kept whenever it is not being worn.

We would recommend you clean your jewellery regularly in mild soapy water, using a soft toothbrush to gently polish and reach into any recessed areas. This will help keep the sheen or lustre of the jewellerys’ finish.

When wearing your jewellery it is important you realise that precious metals are soft, delicate and malleable, therefore bending and snapping can occur with careless treatment. For example; when applying our signature snap ons and cuffs, though it may be convenient to stretch the piece wide open, it is not recommended. This can be detrimental to the jewellery’s shape and finish and could cause a stress point in the piece and snapping can occur. To avoid this, open our signature snap on or cuff to the least amount then slide over the thinnest part of your wrist, repeat for removal.

If it's deemed that the damage to the jewellery is through wear and tear then unfortunately we can not replace the item.

Sterling silver jewellery

Exposure to the elements, moisture, salts and even pollution will encourage the appearance of your sterling silver jewellery tarnish over time. When left unworn or stored touching other items of jewellery, tarnish can also develop over time. If this happens to your silver jewellery then the tarnishing can be removed with a non-abrasive silver polishing cloth or liquid silver dip, which are available in most supermarkets. We would recommend that you only occasionally use silver dip for cleaning, followed by a gentle wash in soapy water to remove any residue. Over-use of silver dip can be detrimental to silver.

A Few Do’s and Don'ts

DO Always put your jewellery on last when dressing, as perfume, hairspray and body sprays can cause silver to tarnish.

DO Use a jewellers silver cloth to clean and remove dirt or body oils from your jewellery after each time it has been worn.

DO Occasionally wash gently in mild soapy water, ensuring it is dried thoroughly before returning it to its storage pouch and box.

DO Wear your jewellery often. The colour of silver and gold becomes richer and more beautiful the more it is worn!

DON’T Do the washing up. The chemicals found in washing up liquid can cause silver to tarnish and become dull.

DON’T Keep it in your jewellery box. To prevent scratching and tarnishing over time, keep your jewellery in the beautiful cloth pouch provided.

DON’T Over use silver dip, and always carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions.

DON’T Swim in your jewellery. The chlorine will cause silver to tarnish.
